Mingei International Museum will present a major exhibition, FORMS IN WOOD AND FIBER – Southern California New Work, opening to the public on June 8, 2008 at its facility in Balboa Park and running through January 4, 2009. Featuring work of five distinguished San Diego wood artists and California Fibers – an exemplary group of 25 artists from Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties, the exhibition is conceived as a lively conversation among peers and between two media. Both fresh takes on traditional forms and cutting-edge contemporary expressions will be included in works of excellent design and craftsmanship. Mingei International is pleased to recognize and highlight the rich diversity of superior wood and fiber artist craftsmen in this region.
