Pieced Reflections

Let It Flow

I have a passion for my work. Fiber is a flexible, textural medium creating undulating, tactile sculpture. My work has a connection to nature, as I am intrigued by the contours and shapes of stones, trees, seeds and pods. I am also inspired by the human form, interpreted by my figurative weavings. A third area of inspiration is when a word might begin the creative process. This will allow the woven sculpture to intertwine thoughts or text with the natural weaving materials.

I continually explore form and structure with the twining technique. The predominately chosen natural fiber, date palm seed frond, is a strong textural material with varying earth-tone colors. Painted canvas is sometimes interlaced for additional color, or metals twined for reflective and contrasting textures.
There is a sense of personal completion as my work transforms parts of nature to a new interpretation.
