| What inspires my work is my ongoing processes of exploring, collecting, investigating, articulating and ultimately, art making. These fundamental activities are the key elements that nourish my creativity and my artistic integrity. Fascinated with the life cycles of organisms, I explore and investigate them with every opportunity. When I view the details of natural forms I envision small, surrealistic worlds. These small worlds are natural phenomena that seem to be individually contained, while at the same time, each becomes a container itself.
My work is focused on the container and its many complex environmental layers. In other words, I examine both the container and the contained. It fascinates me to think that our earth is a vessel which holds bodies of water, mountains, deserts, and other land masses. The earth’s vessel is similar to the human form vessel, a container in and of itself, a seemingly endless interrelationship of the individual to the whole.
