My subject matter is usually based around my immediate surroundings: home, daily activities, my garden and surrounding native Southern California coastal plants. Recently, I have been examining our dependence on the automobile, and it’s effect on our surroundings. I recall the somewhat bucolic nature of the San Diego of my youth, and hope that showing some of the beauty remaining may protect it from insensitive choices resulting from unprecedented growth. I work in a variety of media, including fabric, paper, photography, found objects and wire.

My textile techniques include drawing, painting, dyeing, printing, photo-transfer, embroidery, beading and painting on fabric. To make my artwork, I use the materials and techniques that seem the most appropriate to communicate each idea. I find working in different categories very freeing, and I enjoy exploring new technologies as tools for creating my artwork. I also create one-of-a-kind, hand woven wire jewelry.
